How to Divide Your Keyword Density

Keywords: keyword optimization, check keyword density

If you have a website, it is natural for you to have selected some set of keywords for the site so that there is keyword optimization on each of your web pages. But what’s the magic with using keywords? After all, these are words that simply describe the important topics of information provided on a website.

Keyword density makes it important for the text of your website to include selected keywords for a appropriate number of times so that your web page is optimized. After all, keyword optimization holds the key to your success.

What’s Keyword Density?

There is so much talk about keyword density and keyword optimization. In simple terms, it is a measure that helps to show how many times a specific keyword appears in the text on your website in percentage.

If you want to calculate the keyword density, you have to first count the number of times the keyword appears on your page. To do this, just press the ‘Find’ button on your computer system. Then, you have to divide the keyword count by the total number of words in the article. Multiply this by 100. Then you get the keyword density percentage.

How To Check Keyword Density

It is important to check keyword density. Ideally the keyword density should be between 1% to 3%. If it is more than 3%, that may amount to keyword stuffing. If there is overuse of a keyword in the content to get higher rank for that keyword, the search engine may simply ignore your site. So always check keyword density.

Some useful tips for keyword optimization:

  • A lower keyword density:
This is the best option to follow as most search engine spiders are competent to determine the relevance of a topic in accordance with the keyword density. You can also display related terms on the same page. That would show the spider that your keyword topic is relevant.

Example: If your keyword is "baby diapers" related terms would be "baby lotion," "baby powder” and so on.
  • Natural Usage:
    Keywords optimization
should read naturally as part of the text. It is best to write about a topic in a general way. After you are done with writing, you can check keyword density. If you need a higher keyword count, go back and work on it again.
  • Relevance:
On the Internet, relevance has the greatest importance for keyword optimization and website content. If the topic is not irrelevant to your website, there is no point in displaying it. Search engines are likely to skip your website when they assess that your content is not relevant at all. Find a solid, relevant theme for your site.

Example: If your site is about bone china products, your text should focus on types of bone china, latest designs and so on. But when a search engine spider visits your website and sees that it talks about Hollywood flicks, it won’t list your site at all. This is because it found that your content is not relevant.
  • Interesting content:
The content on your site coupled with relevant keywords will get the attention of web visitors. If the content is interesting, it will inspire return visits. Returning visitors are most likely to make purchases or refer your site to others.
  • Add Inbound Links:
The idea is to add links from other good web pages. But these links must be related to the topics you want to be found for.

Example: First, search for your keyword optimization terms that are popular on a search engine. Look at the pages that come as the top results and visit those pages. Request the site owners if they will link to you. Be prepared for rejections as most people are not so generous. Some site owners link to you so then you can offer to link back.

Why is this system going to help you? When your webpages completely check for keyword density and keyword optimization they would be searched for most often. The search engines will provide links from these pages that are more important. But these sites would get maximum number of visitors. So, if you gain links from these sites, you will definitely get a rich chunk of its visitors too!
